My name is Jeff Carey and I live in
Orange, Va. My interests include art and music.
My favorite visual artists is Alex Grey who is known for his psychedelic images.
Grey’s paintings can be described as a blend of sacred, visionary art and postmodern art. He is best known for his paintings of glowing anatomical human bodies, images that “x-ray” the multiple layers of reality. His art is a complex integration of body, mind, soul, and spirit.
Alex Grey:
I'm also a huge fan of Sri Lankan visual artist/rapper M.I.A. She is known for her politically charged art work and music.
M.I.A.:
M.I.A.'s first public exhibition of paintings in 2001 at the Euphoria Shop in Portobello, London, featured candy colored spray paint and stencil pictures of the Tamil rebellion movement. It included graffiti tigers and palm trees mixed with orange, green and pink camouflage, bombs, guns and fighters on chip board off-cuts and canvases. The show was nominated for the Alternative Turner Prize.
